Cash Cab (The Game)

Have you ever watched the show called cash cab? Well, I like the game that is made from the show. You get to take little taxi pieces and drive them around the city of New York while answering questions. I think it's kind of silly too... because one person will get a super easy question while the next gets a super hard question. There are three questions on a card, a $50 question, a $100 question, and a $200 question. The game is also very hard because you need to answer all of the questions right on the card and if you get even one wrong you get a strike.

Once you get three strikes, you are out!!! Not out of the entire game but you do lose all the money that you won on that journey and you have to pick a new destination. The winner is the first person to win $2,000.

Gun Banning on Portland College Campuses

Portland colleges have banned students from carrying guns on their campuses...



...To be honest, I have mixed feelings about this. On one hand students might be safer from other students pulling guns out on them. On the other hand students might be in more danger since they are unable to defend themselves. Of course the campuses have their own security, but they can't protect everyone all the time.

I do think that when people get to college they should have the maturity to handle firearms responsibly. Those who would break the law by trying to kill another student wouldn't pay attention to a "No Guns" rule on campus anyway. This rule, on the outside, might look like a good idea. However, if you take a closer look, it's might not be such a good idea.

Tobacco companies graphic label requirement? How does that violate free speech?

As I understand it, the government is trying to require that the tobacco companies show graphic images on there adds. They (the government) hope that it will turn some people away from tobacco. I would like to know just how it violates free speech if it's the truth.

It's true that tobacco companies have the right to say whatever they want about their product but they should also have to say (and show) the harmful side of using tobacco. Just like drug companies are required to list all of the side effects of their medication on their adds, tobacco companies should also be required to show us what using tobacco can do to us.

I do think that fewer people would use the product if they did that because they would see before hand what kind of effect it has and they wouldn't have to find out later when it is much harder to quit. Tobacco companies make their money by taking advantage of us.

Even though I may have understood that story wrong my opinion still stands. We should make the tobacco companies show us the harmful side of their product before we start using it and then we can decide whether we want to do that to ourselves or not.

Occupy? What's the point??

I've been hearing a lot about the occupy movement (mostly occupy Portland) and what baffles me is that they think that they are going to change the world by walking down the streets protesting. In this day and age you could protest from the comfort of your own home and get close to the same message across (maybe even more so because a lot more people use the internet then will pay attention to street protesters, there are things like youtube, blogging, facebopok, twitter, and a lot of other places to post and try to rally others to your cause and get on some peoples nerves).



The other thing is what they are protesting. It's pretty stupid. Of course big corporations and the government are going to control the finances and of course they are going to think of themselves first (it's human nature). It'd be nice if they changed but they aren't going to. Everyone likes making money and those few that it benefits worked hard to get there. So stop picking on them.

There have also been some reports of violent protests (at least in Portland) and arrests, that is completely unnecessary!! You don't need to go smashing in windows and breaking things to prove your point. That'll just turn people away from you (and get you arrested, how will that help?).

I say if you want to be in the top group that has worked to get there then you should take the energy that you are using to protest and work your way up too.

Homosexuality? What's the world coming to?

I have been watching the news and several states have now legalized gay marriage. This is unacceptable and disgusting. The bible clearly states that marriage is to be set out as one man and one woman, Why do some people defile themselves by marrying people of the same sex.

Leviticus 18:22: “Do not practice homosexuality, having sex with another man as with a woman. It is a detestable sin.

A child needs a parent of both genders to help him/her in life as only a mother AND a father can.

Matthew 19:4-6: “Haven’t you read the Scriptures?” Jesus replied. “They record that from the beginning ‘God made them male and female.’” And he said, “‘This explains why a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one.’ Since they are no longer two but one, let no one split apart what God has joined together.”

If you deprive yourself of the relationship that God intended for you, than you will still have a significant hole in your heart that only your other half can fill.

If you don't know God than there is another hole in your heart, but that's another story. Maybe I'll blog about that later in time.

Snow??? This Late in the season? On the Coast??

I live on the coast of Oregon and we hardly ever have any snow during the winter but today we got a whole bunch of dangerous snow on the roads and everywhere (it is quickly melting though). I am very surprised that we are getting snow this late in the season. Spring is way too close to get any snow now... apparently not.

Don't tell me it's global warming because I don't want to hear it. Global Warming is a pretty dumb concept. I can't figure it out. When it gets really hot in a place they blame it on global warming and when it gets really cold in a place they also blame it on global warming. What do you think global warming really does? It definitely doesn't have anything to do with us because we have been using cars and other stuff like that for a long time and why would we just be noticing this now?

I think that this cold spell is nothing more than a weather phenomenon that is pretty rare around here.

FULL DAY KINDERGARTEN?? NO WAY!!

It has come to my attention that some schools, teachers, and parents think that it is better (or it would be better) to have a full day of kindergarten rather than a half day.



I think that this idea is flawed is so many ways.

1. Kindergarten is like a High School Orientation for the grade school, it's getting kids used to the idea of sitting in a classroom for the day without overwhelming them with a whole day all at once
2. Kids attention spans are not that long and after awhile they will stop listening.
3. If you do a full day then you will need to think about factoring in some nap time and some extra recess time which will take away any extra teaching time that you think you get. With stuff they could be getting at home if it was only a half day.
4. At this stage kids still learn by playing and exploring the world, they won't learn as much when they are kooped up in a stuffy room all day.

I think that parents just want to be lazy. It is still there job to be with their kids at this stage for half the day (which in my opinion should make them happier to be able to spend more time with their kids before they get into 1st grade and have to be gone all day). These days though both parents want to work (which hurts the kids when both parents are gone all day and some parents aren't even home in time to pick there kids up from school).

Kindergarten was not meant to be a full day and if you make it a full day then you completely destroy the purpose of kindergarten.
